This past weekend we took a three hour road trip to Jervis Bay with friends – beautiful area south of Sydney with gorgeous beaches. Highly recommend this road trip, and also a pit stop in the town of Berry – about halfway between Jervis Bay and Sydney.We stopped for lunch on our way home and had the most lovely food at Berry Woodfired Sourdough Bakery. Service was a bit slow, but it was worth it.I had the Steamed Mussels ($21) which were served in a very rich, very buttery (and totally calorie-free I’m sure!) broth. It was served with two slices of sourdough bread which I didn’t care for much, but McKay liked! And of course – you can’t order mussels without getting fries (chips as they’re called here) to dip into the mussel broth. The chips were served with an aioli sauce ($6). Yummy.
McKay got the special ($28) – King Fish (which has been amazing in every form we’ve tasted it in here in Australia). It was served with a beautiful sauce that I can’t remember all the ingredients of, but definitely some sort of mixture of anchovy and herbs. Also delicious.
