Grapes on the ceiling of a Chinese restaurant?! Obviously. This place is THE hole in the wall of hole in the walls, but I would absolutely recommend it for a fun (super cheap) weeknight dinner with friends. The dumplings are delicious. The noodles are all of different shapes and thicknesses (as they are all handmade). And it is COZY.
A few cautionary notes: They don’t take bookings and this place is not a secret so be prepared to wait. UPSIDE – it’s BYO and it’s pretty much a small disco outside the restaurant where heaps of hipsters await their name to be called, plastic cup of wine in hand. Don’t plan on lingering. Once you’re about half-way through your dishes…you are immediately handed your bill while at least three waitresses hover over you threatening you with their eyes to pay and leave ASAP so they can get another table through the door. And lastly, about 4 doors down to the right is a restaurant called “Chinese Noodle House”. It’s looks suspiciously EXACTLY the same as Chinese Noodle Restaurant – same font, same colours, similar looking menu – it is not the same.
