We spent the long Easter holiday weekend in Mollymook, an adorable beach front town on the South coast of New South Wales. It’s about a three hour drive from Sydney and I would absolutely recommend it for a relaxing weekend getaway from the city.
Where we stayed: Mariners on Mollymook – while not the most up-to-date in the ways of decor…you can’t really beat the location. It is the closest accommodation to the beach and right across the street from the golf club (read: RSL with cheap booze). If booking for a holiday weekend, I recommend planning quite far in advance. McKay booked Mariners through Stayz.com.au over a month before the holiday weekend. There are also some great home rental options if you are with a bigger group, but Mariners was perfect for just the two of us with one bedroom and a little kitchenette.
Where to eat: We did cook a bit, but we also had some amazing meals out. Some places worth checking out while you’re there are Rick Stein at Bannisters, Mrs. Top in Milton, and St. Isadore’s.
What we did: We basically sat on the beach every day, but we also played a round of golf across the way at the Mollymook Beachfront Golf Club. And by “play” I mean I drove around in the golf cart drinking cider watching McKay play (golf apparently isn’t really my thing).
