First Visit Back to the States Since We Moved to Sydney!

This post is massively delayed, but nearly one and half years since we moved to Sydney we finally had a chance to visit our friends and family back home in the states! It was a whirlwind trip…

Fist stop: Chicago! One night at McKay’s dads place in Lincoln Park complete with dinner with McKay’s boys from the mantee. This was the only photo that was captured…

McKay and Little – about to drink beer out of a plate when our restaurant ran out of cups…

Next Stop: Madison, Wisconsin.  Two nights for McKay’s sister Elise and her (now husband) Elliot’s wedding. It was held at an awesome retro movie theater, The Majestic. Super fun wedding and so nice to have so much of the family all in one place!

Third Stop: Back to Chicago. Got to see McKay’s hometown of Wilmette, Illinois complete with breakfast at Walker Brothers Pancake House (of Mean Girls fame), a stop at the McCallister Home (from Home Alone and also right around the corner from McKay’s grandmothers house), and a visit to McKay’s childhood house that he grew up in. We also made sure to hit up the famed, Wiener Circle. We were there too early in the day for the staff to be too rude, but you can get a feel for it by watching this.

And then we were off again: McKay off to Vegas for his mates bachelor party and me off to San Francisco to visit mom and friends for five days before heading back to Sydney.

It was such a wonderful trip – and so nice to see friends and family who we hadn’t seen in ages. We were surprised to find, though, that coming back to Sydney actually felt like we were coming home! It probably helps that we already have our next trip back to the US planned. We’ll be back in August for a friends wedding as well as McKay’s sister Grace’s wedding. Can’t wait!
