Bottom Line – Good place for breakfast or brunch and people watching. Even better place to grab a quick pastry and a coffee.Don’t get me wrong – the brunch food is delicious. McKay had the French Toast of Brioche with Carmelized Banana, Crispy Bacon and Maple Syrup ($15) – amazing combo of flavours, but SUPER duper rich. I had the Corn Cakes with Poached Eggs, Crispy Bacon, Avocado and Relish ($17) – also perfect combo of ingredients. Both were quite good. But with Bill’s right around the corner with his signature Ricotta Hot Cakes and Sweet Corn Fritters dishes…it’s tough to compare.
What Lumière Café does do right…pastries! I was super impressed by their croissants. The chocolate croissant particularly was miles better than the one from Bourke Street Bakery!
