I wish this place was still in Surry Hills. We’d been to Cafe Ish when it was in its Albion Street location and thought it was alright, but it’s new Milk Bar is even better. It’s too bad it’s no longer walking distance, though it’s probably good news for the waste line.
We went to Milkbar a few Saturdays ago for brunch. It was only 11AM, but they’d already run out of their signature dish – the Soft Shell Crab Omelet. We were pretty disappointed by this news and ordered two burgers and milkshakes instead, but the incredible lovely staff was nice enough to make us a free little Soft Shell Crab Omelet taster with the few ingredients they had left. WOW. This dish is phenomenal. I’m not sure what is in the sauce, but the flavours are wonderful together.
By the time we got our burgers, we were already pretty stuffed, but the burgers are definitely worth mentioning. They have a wide assortment of burger options and – we got the bacon cheeseburger and the double bacon cheeseburger with fries. They aren’t the best burgers you’ll ever eat, but they are cheap and they hit the spot if that’s what you’re craving. Finished off with the Vanilla and the Bounty milkshakes we ordered and we pretty much had to be rolled out of the joint.
