Something I love about Sydney: Work emails happen during work

I’ve noticed that slowly but surely the impulse to be constantly checking work emails 24/7 has gone away.  Why?  Because sending work emails at obscene hours of the night and on Sundays isn’t a part of the work culture here.

It’s incredibly refreshing to be able to put down the device and not be paranoid that you are missing out on something that’s happening at the office.  Or feel like you’re not working hard enough if you’re not working on the weekend.  No—here, if you’re working late or on the weekend, you do it on your own terms.  Being a slave to webmail isn’t some sort of badge of honor.
